National Donut Day

Happy National Donut Day Maui!

Who Knew?  June 3, is annual National Donut Day, a treasured national holiday.  In observance Krisy Kreme Kahului, the only Krispy Kreme in the state of Hawaii will be giving one free glazed donut to each customer before 11am.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Kahului is also celebrating the holiday by giving away free donuts before noon and offering 25% off all store items excluding furniture.

Donut Day is not just another silly American holiday, it was stareted by the Salvation army 78 years ago to bring awarness to their social service programs as well as honor the Donut Lassies.  The Donut Lassies were female volunteers during World War 1 who would fry donuts in the soldiers helmets on the front lines.  The dedicated ladis also mended clotehs and prepared other meals for the soliders.
