The two largest resorts on Maui, which are the Grand Wailea in Wailea and the Ritz-Carlton in Kapulua are stepping up their efforts to help the community by collectively donating $100,000 to the Maui Food Bank. The generous donation is designed to aid the Maui Food Bank and allow them to step up their efforts to help families keep food on the table during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Friday, July 10th both resorts will host drive-through food distribution events to serve the South Maui and West Maui communities. At these distribution events, volunteers will be giving away 2,000 care packages. As the state continues to slowly reopen after months in lockdown, Andrew Rogers, the general manager of the Ritz-Carlton said, “the basic need to put food on the table for one’s family has never been greater.”
The Maui Food Bank is extremely appreciative of these corporate partnerships, and with the help of the entire community, has been able to distribute millions of pounds of food since the pandemic started in March. Among the items inside the care packages are fresh fruits and vegetables, chicken and boxed cereal. See below for the distribution schedule.
