Market Update
Foreclosures have plunged 65% since their peak in September of 2010. In March alone the number of completed foreclosures dropped by 16% year over year. Completed foreclosures are homes that were actually lost by the owners.
As employment rises and mortgage rates remain low homeowners are able to keep up with their payments. The number of mortgages in "serious delinquency," or those 90 or more past due fell 19.1% since this time last year.
Economists expect to see foreclosure inventory continue to drop across the nation. The states with the highest number of foreclosures are Florida, Michigan, Texas, Georgia and Ohio. These states are skewing the national average, most states are back to a pre-recession foreclosure inventory.
