Market Update
The mortgage market expects to see many changes in 2016. With new technology arising and marketplace lending growing it is uncertain how the housing market will be affected this coming year.
Freddie Mac predicts the 30 year fixed rate mortgage will average below 4.5% throughout the year. Although mortgage rates are expected to move slightly higher than they have been in 2015.
The housing industry is anticipated to grow in 2016 with an expected 16% increase in housing starts and total home sales increase of 3%. Though home purchases increase, higher interest rates will reduce refinancing and the overall mortgage originations will be lower next year.
