Market Update
From fine dining to fast food restaurants, there are many places to eat on Maui. Since I was born and raised on Maui, I grew up with the local Pacific cuisine. For a special occasion, I will take my family to a five star restaurant like Nick's Fishmarket at The Fairmont at Kea Lani Resort in Wailea or Mama's Fish House located in the North Shore. For this article, I want to share with you my favorite restaurants to eat that have affordable food with the best views.
For breakfast, I would recommend going to Koa's Seaside Grill located on 839 Front Street in Lahaina. This is a newer oceanfront restaurant with amazing ocean views of Lahaina Harbor. My favorite dish is the banana macadamia nut pancakes topped with their original sauce and macadamia nuts for only $10.25. You could also try the Big Kahuna omelete that has bacon, Portuguese sausage, onions, mushrooms, avocado, and pepper jack cheese for $12.25. Their phone number is 808-667-7737.
For lunch, I would recommend visiting Cafe O' Lei at The Dunes at Maui Lani in Kahului. There are 5 Cafe O' Lei restaurants (2 in Kihei, Makawao, Waiehu, and Kahului) on Maui, but the one in Kahului is located directly on the golf course. As you eat, you'll enjoy great mountain and golf course views. There is a daily fish special that comes with Caesar salad and rice for $11.95. I recently ate there and enjoyed the fish special prepared with a lemon capered butter sauce. You could also get the daily plate lunch special for only $6.95. For dinner, I would recommend Cary and Eddie's Hideaway Restaurant in Kahului. This restaurant is already known for their baby back ribs and steak. My husband's friend, Danny recently became a partner of this restaurant and he already has a successful lunch wagon truck in Kahului named, "Like Poke?". His lunch wagon truck is located on the way to Kanaha Beach Park and open during lunch. Danny only cooks fresh fish that he picks up directly from the fishermen. He makes an Ahi katsu dish that is a panko crusted fish that he puts on a bed of green salad and rice for $14. He then drizzles his specialty creamy sauce all over the fish and lettuce. It is the best fish plate that I've ever tasted. He also makes the best Hawaiian Poke which is made of raw Ahi, soy sauce, onions, and etc. When you visit The Hideaway, ask for Danny's fish menu. Their phone number is 808-873-6555 and address is 500 N. Puunene Avenue, Kahului. This is an oceanfront restaurant, so you'll get a nice ocean view of the Kahului Harbor.

P.S. - There is the annual Fall Harvest Festival in Makawao this coming Sunday, October 20th at 9 a.m. There will be great food, craft fair & farmer's market, pony rides, petting zoo, haunted house, keiki Halloween costume contest (ages 0 - 12), and etc. Admission is free. The location is 444 Makawao Avenue right below of the veterinary clinic.
