Market Update

Snow day on Maui!  Though the skies were clear yesterday after Sunday's thunderstorm there was snow coating the top of Haleakala.  Visible from downtown, local families flocked to the mountain to experience this rare sight. 

Icy, dangerous road conditions caused by the 1.5 inch snowfall led the National Park to close the road at the 9,000 foot elevation level in the early morning.  The road was opened by noon and there was still snow on the ground for all the excited visitors to enjoy. Temperatures were in the high 40's to low 50's.   
  

The last recorded snowfall on Haleakala was in January 2011.  Yesterday was truly special as their was enough snow for snowball fights and tiny snowmen.
