Market Update
Pending Sales for February are up 6.6% from January in the Western region and up 18.3% from February 2014. In the Midwest, pending sales rose 11.6% in February and are 13.8% higher than last year.
These sizable gains in the West and Midwest regions have help offset small sales declines in the Northeast and Southern regions likely due to harsher weather conditions.
These gains are likely driven by a continually improving labor market, stable mortgage rates, and unfaltering high rental rates putting pressure on potential first time home buyers. First time home buyers made up 29% of sales in February, a slight increase over January.
