Market Update
Outspoken CEO of Redfin, Glenn Kelman made some strong statements last week about how the National real estate market is changing. People are moving out of expensive areas such as Seattle and San Francisco especially areas with unfavorbale taxes to more affordable areas such as Tennessee, Idaho, Texas and Arizona.
Buyers who are frustrated of getting beaten out on offer after offer and a consistently low supply of homes has created a 'perfect storm' for housing market. Kelman states, "the change seems to have been driven by dissident demand from homebuyers." He attributes this claim to statistics from large markets where prices have jumped the most now reporting a rise in price reductions and a decline in percentage of homes selling within the first 2 weeks.
Redfin is in a unique position to see upcoming housing trends as they have a huge network of agents in a variety of markets across the country. Kelman also comments on the many challenges that would-be home buyers, millennials face including lower wage growth, higher credit and more student debt.
