Market Update
Some lucky home buyers are getting the opportunity to "test-drive" homes before they make the decision to buy. This trend is occurring more and more in the condo and resort home markets where potential buyers are given the opportunity to hang out with neighbors, cook dinner in the kitchen and even spend the night before making the decision to make an offer.
The Honua Kai, offers a "stay and play" program where potential buyers rent the condo for their stay here on Maui and if they end up purchasing, the cost of their stay is applied to the purchase. There are many versions of the "try before you buy" trend being offered by developers across the country.
This extra motivation can be the just the thing some buyers need. However, in the residential home buying market this trend is not gaining as much traction. Perhaps because some realtors feel letting buyer's hang around for too long will allow them time to over analyze and break the deal.

P.S. - Happy Girls Day! Girl's Day is a traditional Japanese holiday celebrated in Hawaii. Although in Japan they've combined Girl's Day and Boy's Day into Children's Day on May 5th here in Hawaii it is still common to celebrate both by giving a small gift.
