Often times we are asked about the real property tax rates on Maui. Each county
is different.
Here's the Maui Real Property Tax Rates for July 2010 to
June 2011.

The real property tax
rates per one thousand dollars of net taxable assessed valuation. The property
is classified upon its highest and best use. If you are using your property as
your principal residence, don't forget to file for your homeowner's exemption by
the end of the year. The homeowner's exemption is $300,000. Therefore, if your
house value is assessed at $500,000, with a homeowner's exemption, it would
bring the value down to $200,000. At a rate of $2.50 / $1,000 of the assessed
value, your property taxes for the entire year would only be $500.00.
