Market Update
Under normal circumstances, the housing market begins to slow down significantly heading into the fall season. But thanks to the unusual conditions the pandemic has created, buyer activity remains strong even though the inventory of homes and condos for sale is shrinking.
One of the reasons for this uptick in buyer activity likely has to do with the record low interest rates, which are predicted to remain low for the foreseeable future. That being said, The Mortgage Bankers Association has released a report that states that lending standards are tightening, which may make it more difficult for some buyers to qualify for a mortgage. Be sure to continue checking in with your lender to see what you qualify for and if there have been any changes that may impact your eligibility.

P.S. Restaurants have undoubtedly been one of the hardest hit industries by the pandemic, and we have seen dozens of closures across the island. Luckily, two much loved Maui establishments will be reopening their doors in the next 3 weeks.
Son’z Steakhouse in the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa in Kaanapali, reopens Thursday, October 15th and Nick’s Fishmarket in the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea will reopen on Nov. 1. Both restaurants will be operating in adherence to the guidelines recommended by the CDC such as open air seating, tables placed 6 feet apart and frequent sanitation of the dining area.
