A recent report prepared for AARP Hawaiʻi has cast a spotlight on a critical long-term challenge for our islands: the urgent need for new, accessible, and affordable housing. According to the study, Hawaiʻi will require nearly 60,000 additional housing units by 2050 to keep pace with our changing demographics and ensure residents can remain in their communities.
This week, we explore the implications of these findings and what they mean for the future of our local neighborhoods:
