 Maui Buyer Trends Report: January–September 2025

The latest Buyer Statistics for January through September 2025 reveal a strong and diverse year for Maui real estate. Total sales on the island rose significantly compared to 2024, with major increases in activity across West Maui (227 sales, up from 106), South Maui (125 sales), and Upcountry (138 sales). Sales volume climbed as well, with West Maui reaching $219.4M, South Maui $157M, and Upcountry $176.1M, showing renewed buyer confidence across multiple regions.

Local buyers continue to lead the market, followed by steady interest from key U.S. states. California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, Texas, and Florida remain among the most active mainland sources, while Canada, China, and the Cayman Islands stand out as the top foreign buyers. 

Statewide, Hawaii buyers accounted for over 9,300 purchases totaling $7.6B, while California buyers contributed nearly $1.5B. This continued influx—both locally and from the mainland—highlights Hawaii’s enduring appeal as a place to invest, retire, and enjoy a unique island lifestyle.

As we move toward the final quarter of 2025, these trends signal a resilient and active market shaped by consistent demand and a wide mix of buyers from across the globe.
