Market Update
There are many volunteer opportunities here on Maui. Besides large community organizations such as the Food Bank, Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity we have unique, local non-profits dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of our island.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA, offers many volunteer opportunities during Hawaii's whale season from November to May. When volunteering you are helping protect an endangered animal, the majestic humpback whale and other creatures that find sanctuary in Maui's warm waters.
The West Maui Mountains Watershed Partnership aims to protect the mountains and the water we drink. The main thing volunteers can help with is clearing out invasive species such as strawberry guava, which suffocates native plants. It always feels good to volunteer for a cause you support.

P.S. - It's that time of year, have you got a pumpkin yet? Or a least a pumpkin latte. We love going to the Kula Country Farms and picking our own pumpkins of the vine. They will be holding all types of fun pumpkin oriented events for the rest of the month including a carving contest and pumpkin contest.
