Ho'okumu Hou Home Designs Now Available; Application Deadline Extended

Home design renderings and floor plans for the Hoʻokumu Hou Single-Family Homeowner Reconstruction Program are now available to view online, giving Lahaina homeowners a first look at rebuilding options designed with the community in mind. Along with the release of these designs, the County of Maui Office of Recovery has extended the application deadline for both the Reconstruction and Reimbursement programs through Aug. 31, 2026, providing additional time for eligible homeowners to apply.
Funded by Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds, the program offers up to $1.2 million to help homeowners whose primary residence was destroyed in the 2023 Maui wildfires rebuild and return home. The new designs balance Firewise construction with familiar forms and layouts, supporting resilient, culturally rooted rebuilding for Lahaina families.
